What We Do
The focus of the Georgia-Alabama Land Trust is to protect land. We do this primarily by working with private landowners to secure land in conservation easements that will define the way the land can be used in the future. The landowners we work with come from all walks of life. Family farmers, real estate developers and even the US Government are our clients.
Our accreditation with the Land Trust Alliance ensures that we conduct our business with the highest level of integrity and professionalism. As an organization with origins in 1996, we have established a successful record of achieving our objectives for over 20 years and plan to tirelessly continue our work into the future.
We support landowners who are working their land
Unchecked development – whether for high density urban housing or retail/multi-use – has a significant negative impact on the adjacent land. Impermeable surfaces, like parking lots, cause storm water run-off and destruction of waterways. Clear cutting of trees reduces canopy and destroys habitats for many animal species.
